What we do

Vivolve joins high school students looking for post-high school opportunities such as college or technical school with coaches, admissions officers and even employers all in the same place, free of charge.

This is quite different from most methods of after high school placement, which could be easily summarized in the cliché "pay to play". By using Vivolve, students and their families can eliminate:

  • The high costs most post high school placement services charge students.
  • The "needle in a haystack" approach with which most students struggle.
  • The athletic-only emphasis of the majority of "recruiting sites".

This is possible because Vivolve has a state-of-the-art search process which offers fresh, searchable information to recruiters while maintaining the highest security measures for students.

Vivolve gives all students and their families an easy, yet powerful way of mapping out the blueprint to achieve their post high school goals.

How we do it

Students

Once registered, students are able to sign into their personal profile. Within their profile students are able to describe their Academic, Athletic, Arts, Career and Volunteer Service during high school. These 5 categories are the most sought after by universities, technical colleges and employers. While test scores grab the headlines, colleges, universities and employers all struggle to find "real information", the person behind the test score; they want to find people that best integrate with their values.

By using drop-downs and key-word categories students can easily highlight their accomplishments, what clubs they belong to and how they excelled in school. Students can even upload videos of their performance via Vivolve's Highlight Reel. This allows a students profile to be very flexible; easy to create, yet detailed, and updatable. Students are strongly encouraged to maintain and update their profile from their freshman through senior years, because doing so portrays the student as a decision maker and shows recruiters how they have progressed.

Recruiters

Recruiters, both collegiate and corporate, apply to Vivolve through their professional credentials. Once their position and current employment is verified by the Vivolve staff, the recruiter is able to access the site.

Vivolve provides recruiters access to anonymous but highly searchable data which they can access at their convenience. Recruiters can search by GPA, athletic statistics, club memberships and more to find the students for whom they are looking. Most importantly, the student's information is kept strictly confidential; the recruiters must use the closed and highly secure Vivolve CommCenter to contact a student directly.

This ensures that recruiters who contact students are seriously interested in that student; because of this, no personal information is ever made available without the student's consent.

Advertisers and Partners

Vivolve offers both sides (students and recruiters) a needed service free of charge. However, since neither the students nor the recruiters are charged for this very valuable service, Vivolve relies on its advertisers and partners to cover costs, keeping the service free.

Internet advertising is very well known, and Vivolve uses a platform very much like most news sites. The role of our partners may not be as familiar to you, so we'd like to take a moment to detail it here.

A partner pays for access and, after being vetted by the Vivolve team, is granted access to search the Vivolve database (similar to the recruiter search). A partner also has the ability to invite students to participate in online surveys, virtual focus groups and special promotions via Vivolve's secure CommCenter. It is important to stress here that partnerships will be available only to vetted companies that market products or services to the student market. As is the case with recruiters, students can choose whether or not to respond to CommCenter inquiries.

To further protect students, partners and their products will be matched to members via their profile information and preference indicators. This ensures that students will never be spammed by partners with offers that are outside of their indicated interests. This is because the students will never come up on a search executed by partners with whom they are not interested.

Additionally, students will always have the opportunity to reject any overtures from that partner via the Opt out process.

Our Opt-In / Opt-Out Process

Because we value students, families and our partners, Vivolve has a and very easy to use strong opt-out option.

Simply by choosing not to complete any of the lifestyle questions, students are automatically excluded from any marketing and promotional searches.

Those students will of course still enjoy all of the benefits of being included in recruiter searches, the core of the Vivolve program. For more information, refer to the Information We Collect section of our Privacy Policy

Why are Infomediary Services Important

Vivolve is classified for legal purposes as an "infomediary" enterprise. For those for whom this term is unfamiliar, the term derives from the words "information" and "intermediary". What we offer to each of our students, recruiters and subscribers is information and the ability to communicate. However unlike most companies we are not interested in simply collecting information and selling. Instead, we create an environment of participation. Recruiters can find the students they need without hefty fees to anonymous companies peddling recycled information. Students can directly contact the recruiters for the schools they are interested in without having to pay expensive head-hunters for the chance of a quick meet.

Partners are interested in real, up to date data. How many teens use an X-Box versus a Playstation? Currently, companies interested in this information must pay expensive survey groups for "man on the street" type surveys. Vivolve offers them the ability to ask questions to students themselves, to better understand their customers in a safe and secure manner.

Because of this, our advertisers and subscribers agree to fund the service, thereby giving something important back to their customers, our students, the opportunity for a better future.
